FRCEC Best-Of Tournaments
The Best-Of tournaments are two players
contests, where the winner will
be the one to score
the most points in a Best-Of "so many" games.
The number of games is agreed by the players before the
tourney starts, and the minimum number of games is 3. By default
(unless otherwise requested by the
players) the number of games in a standard Best-Of tourney is 5 games.
The minimum number of games required to win the tourney are
played concurrently, and colors alternate from game to game,
with the lower rated
player playing white on game 1.
For example, if two players are in a Best-Of 5 games
tournament, they start playing 3 games simultaneously, the minimum number of
games required to
win. If one player wins the 3 games, the tourney is over. If after 2 games are
completed, the score is tied 1-1, then
they start playing
game 4 without waiting for the result of game 3. If the score is 2-2 after the
first 4 games finish, then game 5 is started.
In case of a draw (2.5-2.5 score) after 5 games, then
tie-breaker games are played until there is a clear winner.
Best-Of tournaments are played via all methods supported by
FRCEC to play FRC/Chess960 games.
To join a Best-Of tournament send an email to:
frcec-best-of@yahoogroups.com
Include in your email the method you want to use to play
your games, the person you want to challenge (if known),and

of games you want fo your Best-Of tourney.
We'll send a challenge on your behalf to your opponent (if submited), or add you to the waiting list and will set you
up as soon as
another player requests to participate in a Best-Of tournament.
